About Samilka harith Palihawadana

I am a 27-year-old Sri Lankan, currently working as a Marine Engineer / Seafarer with Seaspan, one of the world’s leading container shipping companies. I am also continuing my professional studies towards my Class 3 / Third Engineer qualification at South Shields Marine School in the United Kingdom. I completed my early schooling at Kottawa Dharmapala Vidyalaya and continued my education at Ratnapura Prince College from Grade 6 to Grade 11. Through my maritime career, I have had the opportunity to travel to around 28 countries, giving me valuable international experience and helping me become independent, disciplined, responsible, and open-minded. I come from a loving and respectable family. I have two brothers, and I am the youngest in the family. My elder brother is a Marine Engineer, while my second brother is a Civil Engineer. My father is a retired former government officer and is now involved in managing our family’s gem lands and tea lands. My mother is a homemaker who has devoted her life to caring for and supporting our family. Our family also has a strong connection with Sri Lankan religious and cultural traditions. I currently serve as the Basnayake Nilame of the Millagala Sri Maha Paththini Devalaya in Ratnapura, having taken on this responsibility this year. I consider this both an honour and a responsibility. I value honesty, kindness, respect, loyalty, responsibility, and family values. My career at sea has taught me to work hard, remain calm in challenging situations, and take responsibility for my commitments. At this stage of my life, I am hoping to meet a kind-hearted, educated, understanding, respectful, and family-oriented girl with whom I can build a happy and meaningful future. I believe a successful marriage is built on love, trust, friendship, mutual respect, understanding, and supporting each other through every stage of life.
